Camp Kum-Ba-Yah offers environmental education programs during the school year. Our emphasis is on active, experiential, place-based instruction built on curricula derived from diverse resources such as Project Learning Tree and Project WET and WILD, among others.
Working with classroom teachers, we will apply the 5E instructional model for interdisciplinary, standards-based instruction. Students at all levels will be encouraged to Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate during age-appropriate activities centered on a main topic.
Our goal is to incorporate inquiry-based activities in science, personal reflection, group collaboration, and extensions appropriate to take back to the traditional classroom.
Our environmental education programs give children a special look at the world around them with an emphasis upon the value, importance, and inter-relatedness of all living and non-living things.
