Camp Started Before Campers Arrived

Last week, our counselors gathered for Staff Development Week to prepare for the summer ahead. We asked them a few of the same questions we'll be asking campers throughout the season.

The results made us smile:

✔ 100% identified a trusted adult at camp
✔ 96% learned something new outdoors
✔ 96% kept trying when something felt difficult

We're excited to see that the same things we hope campers experience this summer—belonging, growth, resilience, and connection—are already taking root among the young adults and a few young-at-heart adults who will be leading them. 

At Camp Kum-Ba-Yah Nature Center, we believe camp changes lives. Sometimes those lives belong to campers. Sometimes they belong to counselors. Often, it's both.

We're ready for an incredible summer.
